I saw you today, Lord
in two little girls
they climbed a bench
a bit high for them
and there they sat
swinging their feet
their arms interlaced
One spotted something
in the trees and flung up her arm
to point to it
the other followed her friend
their animated chatter
blended with birds chirping
and rays of excitement
shone across their faces
I didn’t hear their words
and I don’t know the story
but I heard you Lord
in their joy
and I saw you
in their wonder
