Luke 7: 36-50
Simon, how unhappy you were
when uninvited I came
Gatecrashing your party with my reputation
“If He were a holy man He would know
what kind of woman this one is,” you said
Simon, I recognise that you looked for integrity
And if times and circumstances were different
I would have told you
How it came about that I am a sinful woman
The choices a woman does and does not have
And what it all has to do with men
But I won’t
Because today I wanted to tell you why I came
And poured a jar of nard on His feet
This man, when He looked at me the other day
It was so different from the usual stares I get from men
His eyes honoured me
And for the first time, Simon, I was not afraid
And as He held his gaze, I felt the warmth inside me
And all my broken pieces fell back into place
